boot message

I'm just wondering how to read the messages that appear on screen during boot time. I've tried dmesg, but it doesn't make any sense, and it's nothing like the messages during boot.

From man dmesg

Code:
The program helps users to print out their bootup messages. Instead of copying the messages by hand, the user need only:
dmesg > boot.messages
and mail the boot.messages file to whoever can debug their problem.

There's also syslog

at /var/log/syslog

[Edit] Sorry, these weren't really good answers to your question, but most of the boot logging information should be found in these files as well as /var/log/messages. Hopefully you'll find what you need.

Cheers
