boot idea and a couple questions
Here is what i would like to do and not sure if its possible
have a configurated boot loader on cd or floppy and have my MBR remain untouched.
having BIOS configurated to boot from floppy or cd but if i person don't insert that boot loader floppy or cd machine will boot into windows with out even knowing that there is Linux installed...

2 separate disks:
1st - windows
2nd - Linux

my :newbie: question is how to install linux distro with out hurting MBR and then config that kind of floppy or cd...
mind thinking that floppy/cd would have lilo or grub with pre-configed file(s) for my harddrives but has no idea where to start :D

P.S.: so far only found information about dual-booting

Thanks in advance

i had problem before some time. I have now master disk the linux disk, and with lilo activated the second disk, and then something with lilo (I dont remember what) and now is ok, i start either with linux or windows, just to select at the beginning.
with lilo, not with grub

I think what he wants is a boot disk with LILO on it
Boot linux, and do this:

thanks for "mkbootdisk" command, and i did read info about...
but part of my question was also how to install linux with out hurting my MBR...

When the part of the install that asks you where to install the bootloader comes up, tell it not to install it to the MBR. Most installs also offer you the option of making a boot disk, so you should take it.
