boot dsl-4.4.10.iso from CDR

Hi,

I am trying to boot linux dsl from my CD Rom. It was saved as a jzip file and burned to a CDR.

I then tried to adjust the BIOS so it boots from the CDR Drive. The drive turns, but it just ignores and goes into XP.

I tried this with Linux puppy yesterday, with similar results.

Does jzip need to be extracted first and the raw files copied/burned to the CD Rom file first? ((with no jzip...) (This didn't work yesterday either as there were some archive files in jzip...)).

Thanks,

Tim

What you need is a file with an 'iso' extention. Then find instructions on how to burn your iso file to CD with the software your using.

boot dsl-4.4.10.iso from CDR

This didn't work at all. The only thing that has worked was using it within Windows (with the embedded file) and through dsl-base which started various dos commands and launched the application.

Which one(s) of the following should be separated and used for booting in the 'normal' download? (ie. dsl-4.4.10.iso) . One of the files(minrit) is in jzip which is an archive file:

[BOOT] - Bootable_NoEmulation.img

boot - isolinux - boot, f2, f3 etc.

KNOPPIX - KNOPPIX

lost+found - (no file/application)

index - Notes : You need to make sure your bios is set to boot from the cdrom. After fixing your bios reboot your computer with the CD in your drive.I hope you like Damn Small Linux!

Unless of course Windows users are stuck with the embedded file....

Was my fault- got it working now by using a burner from http://cdburner.xp.se.

Am wondering how can I boot from a usb pen drive and would it have to be unique i.e. just have linux dsl on it??
