Boot Disk Help

I am trying to create a boot disk that will let me mount my USB drive before booting up linux.

I installed linux on my USB drive, and can access it in rescue mode using modprobe usb-storage. Can this command be run from a floppy and if so how would I do it?

you will probably need to create a linux floppy disk.
Ready made ones are available -
it is just a very small linux distro that will fit on a floppy.

not sure if it will have the module you require though.

If Motely boots from a floppy and is able to run the modprobe command to load the usb-storage module and subsequently mount the USB hard drive, what command(s) would he then have to execute to have linux actually start to "bootup" from that usb hard drive?

If you ever get a boot floppy to work be sure to post what you did. I don't know the exact steps you need but here is a start.

Might want to search the web for others trying to do the same thing.
