boot

Hi,

i run Suse 9.1 Pro and till now i used the kernel 2.6.4 that comes along.
I downloaded the latest kernel 2.6.8.1 and after i did
make xconfig
make bzImage modules
make install
cp System.map ...
cp arch/.../bzImage /boot/...
mkinitrd

i get some weird messages at boot. After that i can't mount any cdrom drive. It says that subfs not supported by kernel. I have checked all the necessary options in xconfig.

When i run mkinitrd i get
linux:/home/ioannidis/kernel/linux-2.6.8.1 # mkinitrd

Why there are such messages?

Thanks!

defy; configuration? may have to reconfigure to correct those errors.
reread them carefully & step by step correct each untill no errors appear.

Thanks, but how (re)configure?
Do you mean in xconfig?

The messages refer to modules that are not up to date. How can i check that or make them up to date?

defy; yes if that is what u have in
xconfig and update modules via suse site. since do not have suse that would be best place for support.
