Boot

I have a Sun Ultra 5/10 1024MG Ram SPARC server, 333 mhz i think. This machine is running an old version of Solaris. I downloaded and burned the ISO's for the new version. What my problem is that i do not know how to boot the cd to install the Solaris. It dosent automatically boot up. I tried to boot up Suse also, but some one told me it was not compaitible with sPARC systems. So i also tried solaris and had no luck. Is there a program, file, command that i need to run for this? If you know how I can boot the cd please help me out. (I burned the iso's with nero)

Check the bios and make sure you boot the cd first,on one of my boxes I have a hard time getting it to boot from some iso's just have to keep trying, seems like the timing is off as the cd will start before the bios is ready to boot or the cd starts after boot.

How do I exactly check the bios

Sun hardware is a bit different from PCs. To boot of CD hit stop+a when the boot sequence is beginning, and then type "boot cdrom" -- at leat this has worked for me (I was just playing around w/ an Ultra 5 earlier tonight).

Ill try that, although somehow in the past minute I did something to crash all the boot up. Will this technique still work? Will it uninstall the previous version and install a fresh new system.

It should still work, but I'm not enough of a Sun expert to say for sure. Once you've booted off the CD drive, installation of whatever operating system you choose should proceed as normal.
