Books for linux

Hi can any one please suggest a book for linux administration which covers most of the basic applications and services and is good for a newbie

Generally I'd suggest just using it and referring to online docs. If you want to study the sysadmin side, then I would suggest Michael Jangs RHCSA / RHCE guide. Whilst this is a study guide for RedHat certification, it covers all the basics you probably want to cover.

Whatever distro you install will have plenty of docs and manuals.

"A practical Guide to Linux" by "Mark G. Sobel" is a good start on shell programming, commands , sed, awk etc
