blank screen with strange characters while typing after fedora loading bar

Hey, I'm getting a blank screen with strange characters while typing after fedora loading bar on fedora 11. Last thing I did was ran the updater and downloaded a kernel update and the update to KDE 4.3. I noticed that after the update, it didn't change my GRUB screen to include a new kernel number version to boot like it normally does, and I have no idea what exactly is killing it. Does anyone have any ideas on how for me to get back into the linux boot after the loading bar?

OS: Fedora 11 x64

fixed it with thanks to this thread, which pointed me in the right direction, i had compiled my own nvidia drivers, which screwed me up, when i installed the akmod drivers from YUM it fixed it.
