Blank screen when installing Mandrake on Toshiba Laptop
I am new to Linux and attempted to load Mandrake on my Toshiba laptop. Within Windows XP, I used partition Magic to create a new partition for Linux and place it ahead of the existing partition. On first boot, I allowed the PC to boot from CD, which was the #1 Linux disk. It asked if I wanted to hit enter to install or F1 for other options. I have tried almost all the text and graphical options, and my screen is completely blank. The bad news is its my wife's PC so I am finding bedding for the couch, where I'll be until I get this fixed.

Try running the install in text-only mode...
The other thing is it might be trying to go to the external monitor with the graphics mode. Can you check the BIOS and try to set the box up so it only goes for the built-in display? Cheers, Tink |
I tried text mode, I get "Uncompressing Linux, OK, booting the kernel. And nothing after that. Yhe Bios gives me a auto select or simultaneous choice for the monitor. I tried them both with no success
