blank logoff screen&triple os boot

Hi folks!
I´m a novice on linux and I´m having a problem everytime I logoff. The screen blanks and nothing happens after that. Please help me. (It didnt occur the first time I´ve installed).
Athlon 950Mhz
RAM 256mb
AIW Radeon 7500 64mb
Lucent modem
SB Live! sound card
LG CD-RW
LG Combo CD-RW/DVD
Windows XP
Mandrake 9.1
Mandrake 9.1

I was wondering about installing REdHat9 (the third OS on the same HD). Could somebody guide me how can I do that?Windows XP

Welcome to LQ.

Take a look at your XFree86 and /var/loca/mesages log files once you logoff and see if there are any error messages or clues.

As for installing Redhat 9 - it shouldnt be a problem if you have free unpartitioned space. Just install it and make sure you DON'T install the bootloader to the MBR. Then you can edit your existing bootloader config to boot Redhat 9 as well as XP and mandrake.

Hi David!
Surprisingly when I reinstalled MDK it started working corectly including logoff and torn off process. I didn´t understand why but that´s it. The only thing I didn´t understand is how can I avoid Redhat bootloader to write on MBR. Mandrake has this option during install process but I didn´t notice that on Redhat.
