Blacklisting a device or module.
Hi,
Can someone clarify me on the below points related to black-listing of device/module: 1. What does balck-listing a device/module mean? 2. Does that mean we cannot access the device or module that is blacklisted ? Thanks in advance. rbh |
1. What does black-listing a module mean?
It means prohibiting modprobe to load the listed module. 2. Does that mean we cannot access the device or module that is blacklisted ? If the device needs the module loaded, and the module is blacklisted, then, no, you can't access the device. |

What about blacklisting a device?
Well, what about it? You asked for the meaning and that doesn't change. |

One of the things that makes GNU/Linux so powerful is that, given enough time and the will and persistence to do things, you can do almost anyhting w/o fscking up a system, and that includes testing conditions. So why don't *you* test this yourself and post the answer? |
