Black Screen At Boot Up

When I goto boot up and log into Linux, I get a black screen. after its done with GRUB. The monitor shuts off. It is on a Compaq laptop 1200US.

you are working on dual operations system ? is it not !

May be the problem is with MBR or loading vmlinuz ,

u might have got startup disk , did you try it ?
