BitchX connection problem

hello guys
as i am completly new to linux and have nearly no clue of it (right now) i thought i should try here..

BitchX nik is the cmd i use
so my question is when i am using bitchX it says

BitchX: Auto response is set to -nik
connecting to port 6667 of server [refnum 0]
Bitch X Servers exhausted. Restarting

thats all nothing else happens ... is it because i am behind a firewall and using proxy ?

and if that is the case how can i solve the problem without changing firewall ports (as i have no access to it, because of the corp reglementations)

is it possible to tunnel it ?

argh other thing is my collegue is able to join irc from windows ... think it has something to do with his ip or something as i can not join from windows on this machine ...
anyways it perhaps could be possible via linux with other ip ?

hope i didnt describe it to confusing

you have been blocked by the firewall. you could try tunneling, that should work.
