BIOS / Linux boot error - nforce2 conflict? need help!!!!

I'm using the boot from CD low fat version of Linux - it works fine on my second PC but when I try to boot it from my first PC it comes up with the second error:-

"MP BIOS bug

8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC"

Does anyone know what this means and how to solve it?

Is it a BIOS setup problem?!?

I can't tell if you need 911 or just some Linux advice.

apparently its a BIOS bug that Knoppix is recognizing.
Ive never seen this, can you install another distro?
Try PHLAK, its better than Knoppix I hear.

You might try to boot the disc with the "noapic" flag (if its available). The apic involves SMP anyways. If you have one processor, it won't do anything but boot for you...perhaps.
I think that the Phlack site may be down right now. Check for progress about that.
