BIOS and bootloaders

Hi all,
Can anybody explain me the exact roles, responsibilities and need of BIOS and bootloader(the differences) in a PC and how do we manage to starting an embedded system without using BIOS?

As far as I know, every computer ever made except analog system require some bootstrapping. By default the computer is wired to start at some address and read but after that unless it is fully hardwired it has to then choose how to learn how to use devices.

A bios may be called other things in each computer but all modern systems have some way to get the computer ready to start some OS or code.

A bootloader and a bios do very different things.
