Angry Beware: Goon Needing Help

hi hi hi hi,

just to make it clear -- what i've done is inconceivably stupid.

what i've done: i tried to change my username using redhat 9's user manager. i clicked my name, then on properties, typed in what i wanted my new name to be, selected ok - and waited... and waited.. i watched the hour glass turn and turn..i could wait no longer so i hit the X button to cancel the entire process..the dialogue box closed, i refreshed the screen and saw that my name was changed..thought, wow cool great grand wondeful, lets reboot and see what happens -- so i rebooted: my new name doesn't exist, my old account isn't acknowledged anymore either. i can't get into my linux! HELP! is there some dastardly secret way into the OS that i don't know about? is there any way to fix this goof up? i don't want to reinstall the whole OS again!! (it would be the 5 or 6th time, ha ha)

TRIAL AND ERROR
I HATE YOU

thanks!

Just log in as root and create a new login ID. The command is: adduser xxxx where "xxxx" is the username you want to use.
