Best possible Hardware config
 

I have run linux on my gameserver on and off as a dual boot for some time now but am looking to dual boot on my main workstation. Just wondering which scenario would be the easiest to install and set up a dual boot.
Currently have X64 xp and 32 bit xp on two 74 gig raptors in raid 0 but I plan on ditching the 32 bit xp and would like to install a linux distro . I would love to install it on the raid 0 partition (create linux partions) but am hestitant because what a pain it was getting the raid drivers installed just to install XP. I guess what I would ask is would linux see the windows partition and install boot loader and allow me to dual boot. Or would there be a problem with the raid drivers ?

I have room and would install and ide hard drive to install linux on but would I run into a similiar problem (linux seeing the X64 partition) if I were to go that route ? Would there be a problem setting up a dual boot config under this hardware setup.

If I need to include hardware configuration in detail let me know and I will do so. I so much want to run a nix distro on my workstation as a dual boot option. I have my X64 partition imaged so there is not a problem with me trying different techniques as I can always restore from that image and the 32 bit I dont reall care about its only taking up space.

I don't see any particular matter.

Install linux in expert mode, and you 'll able to choose the disk on which you want to install linux.

In fact, linux will see your windows partitions, but your not constraint to mount them.
Modify your "/etc/fstab" in function of you want to do
