Best host district for lfs
 
Hello I was doing lfs and was wondering what was the best host district and don't tell me I probably do have enough know. How to do it for I have been using Linux fore years and haves read all the docs the give you to look at so thanks in advance

(Edit) sorry my tablet auto corrected distro to district.

I think that just about any distro will work as long as you make sure you meet the LFS requirements.

Slackware comes with a bunch of development and compilation tools already installed, so it might be a good choice. With many of the others, you have to install kernel headers and other elements needed to compile from sources; Slackware includes them by default.

Slackware is a compatible host system for LFS by default, so you can't go wrong with that.

Is there any other distros that come with every thing else need will probably use slakeware but just want to know all my choises

Besides Salix (if I remember that correctly) only Slackware is LFS compliant out of the box. All other distros I know of have to be made compliant first, see for example druuna's experiences with Fedora here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...7/#post5067833

Most distros will come with everything you need, but depending on how you install them the various tools may or may not already be on your system at the end of the installation process. However, if you are up to doing an LFS build presumably you are capable of installing packages on the build system.

I use calculate linux. The live cd can be loaded into ram and It had everything I need and more.
