Belkin f5d5000 ethernet card

i am trying to install this ethernet card on redhat 8.. the included driver from the company doesnt compile, its gets about a million errors. so i've been browsing the kernel docs and i have found that there is a modified version of that driver included in the source. It is called 8139too.c
i guess i dont have that compiled into my kernel, so how can i make that module available? do i have to recompile the whole damn kernel? i dont want to b/c whenever i recompile my kernel i lose support for my wireless mouse which is a problem i have yet to be able to solve, anyone?
