Beginning NOOB glitches here...

extreme noob here, beware. just downloaded redhat 8.0, my first linux experience. years of windows, no linux, wanna try it now, so i set up a dual boot system. i downloaded iso's, and md5um'd everything, it's all legit. i installed after a few hitches, but it all installed correctly. BUT, when i boot into redhat, i don't know any commands, do get me to a graphical interface, i just don't know what to do. i can login with root, or my username, but i still have a command prompt, and i don't know ANY commands. i'm not asking for a direct answer, because i want to learn, and research, so if anyone could give me a link to a startup manual, or something like that, i'd greatly appreciate it. if you could tell me how to startup redhat, i'd appreciate that, and any resources that you could link me to would help out a lot.

after building my computer a couple of months ago, and learning to control all of my hardware (as hard as it is in XP), i want to start learning about different software, etc.. as i am a hardware guru, but can't program, or do little else than update drivers. it's time for windows to go... and i also dont' have 250 bucks to pay for a license for my "borrowed" copy of winXP ; )

thank ya'll.

i knew that the command startx would lead me somewhere before, but i get an error msg when trying to execute it. i'll post the error message, as soon as i go back to my good machine. i'm watching the giants game right now, and i'm lazy, but thx for the reply.

Try setting up the Geforce4 as a GF2 or 3. That's helped me some times. And isn't Xconfigurator the best for RH (I haven't changed anything in a year)?
