Unhappy beginner - linux cd will not boot

I have Win98 on my computer. I decided to install Linux on my computer. I downloaded Knoppix ISO and burned it on a CD. But I can not boot from the CD. I changed the BIOS to boot from CD, but still nothing happened. What's wrong?

Did you burn the iso to disk (i.e. made a data disk with the iso burned to it), or did you burn it as a cd image? You can check by opening the disk in Win98. If it has a file filename.iso (whatever the filename is) on it, you burned it wrong. Check the manual for your burner (or google it) to find out how to burn the iso as a cd image.

Thank You
