UPDATE -- problem 1) solved by creating ~/.xsession file and putting bbmail -w & in there.
Hello
I'm not sure whether these are two debian specific questions but since i'm quite a newbie it can't be wrong to post them here
So I managed to install debian sarge with kernel 2.6, Xfree86 and the latest nvidia driver(
!!), fluxbox etc. and... YIPPEEEE!!
this forum was a great help of course. I didn't even have to ask one single question to find all the answers I needed. well, up to now...
so here are my 10 problems (don't worry, I'm still in binary mode
)
1) I downloaded bbmail and would like to have it start automatically with fluxbox. $man fluxbox tells me to add the line
to the ~/.xinitrc file but i can't find that file. I know that debian handles the "init stuff" differently, maybe this has something to do with it?
2) how can I shut down the computer directly from fluxbox? what I do now is exit fluxbox, this will _sometimes_ take me right into terminal mode, then I usually
from there. but sometimes, after exiting fluxbox, xdm would automatically restart and have me kill it with CTRL - ALT - BCKSPACE twice before allowing me to the terminal. this is strange. by the way, I know that my computer is capable of completely shutting down (power off) automatically because it did so with mandrake, woody and win ME before. I've read something about APM and I think this could do the trick but I don't know how to enable that function.
so thanks in advance for your patience and please excuse me for my funny english..
