basic understanding of installing new program in linux

Hello I am new in linux.I have been using window from long time.I want to install program in linux through pan drive how can I do this ?

The best way to install a package is through package manager. If you know what distribution you are using then you can search the net for the package manager that comes with your distro. It is much easier and safer and faster in sense that it will take care of the dependencies as well.
But it is always better you post more information about your issue. What distribution are you using and what is the package? There is a good possibility that the package you need is available in the repositories of your distribution.
