bash: xxx : cannot execute binary file

Hi Guys,

I have a question about bash. I'm trying to get an assembler linker to work, with limited success.

SDCC seems to have some issues with the aslink command. It just dumps me out without any clue every time.

So I've upgraded to the latest aslink from the original homepage here.

Downloaded. Unpacked. Copied to /usr/bin/. Chmod 755 on binary files.

But when I try and call the programs I get:

Code:
paul@paul-desktop:~$ asz80
bash: /usr/bin/asz80: cannot execute binary file
and

Quote:
paul@paul-desktop:~$ aslink
bash: /usr/bin/aslink: cannot execute binary file
Where am I going wrong?!

I tried it on slackware and it worked fine.Did you download the source and follow the instructions?I didn't need to chmod the binaries.

OK I retried it and now it works.

Patches needed to be downloaded and applied for compilation to succeed. (Patch 1 and 2 for V5.0)

I think I'd just copied the wrong files previously.
