Lightbulb bash: syntax error near unexpected token `('


I am trying to install vlc media player on my backtrack3 but when i am giving a command xvjf to extract bz2 file then

bash: syntax error near unexpected token `('

this error occurred help me...

Your not seriously asking us to tell you the answer when you have provided the switches to some as yet mentioned function???
The error mentions a bracket yet some how that is not in the command you submitted??

Maybe it would be more helpful if you actually pasted in what you entered on the command line?
