how would i find out how much i've downloaded on a particular day, week, or month in linux?

yeah some sort of script would do the job... just before the computer is to reboot or shutdown for a script to add up the usage of /sbin/ifconfig 's eth0 downloaded figure or just even to append it to a file (so you could at least manualy add the figures up)...
