Backup server
 

Hi Guys,

I have a W$ndows 03 server and a OpenSuse 11.0 box.. what command can I use to back up some data (1 folder) from the W$ndows server to the OpenSuse box? maybe a shell script so it would be done automatically?
the W$ndows 03 server & Suse are on a windows Domain and I can access the 03 folder with SMB.

Google and the forum archives should be your first search. Then if you don't find an answer post your question.

Personally I would set up a Samba share on the linux box and run a scheduled backup via NTbackup. Probably not the answer you’re looking for cause it’s cheap and dirty but it’ll get the job done.

If your determined to do it with linux, I think the tool your looking for is called rsync.

http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/ would be another option..

The suggestion to search the forum here would net a lot more results and several other options.
