Hi there...
I would like to backup my system, "just in case" something horrible happens (last time I got a corrupted /etc/fstab and wasn't able to solve the problem, but by re-installing the system), so I wanted to do something like:
Code:
# tar --create --file=/sysbackup /*
However, I'm pretty sure this will backup things I do not want to (/proc, for instance), so I think I should run something like:
Code:
# tar --create --file=/sysbackup.tar --exclude=/proc/* --exclude /sysbackup.tar /*
So the questions for you guys: Which other directories shouldn't I backup? Is it important/useful/recommended to use --dereference also?
Thank you in advance!
