backtrack 5 with vmplayer


having trouble with my wireless adapter where the airmon-ng cannot detect its interface device and driver of my adapter when i'm using backtrack 5 with vmplayer

If you run a Linux distribution in a virtual machine, like VMware Player, the OS in the virtual machine will only see the virtual hardware, not your actual physical hardware. If your wireless device is USB-based you are able to pass it through to the OS in the VM, for PCI devices this feature is experimental and needs special hardware functions, AFAIK.
The simplest solution would bo to make a native installation of Backtrack on your harddisk or use it from a live-CD/USB.

The creator of this video tutorial hacks into his own secured WLAN system, using Backtrack 5 (either native installed or used from a live-CD/USB).
Keep in mind that it is illegal in almost any country on this planet to break into a computer network without consent of the owner (yes, this includes the hardly protected WiFi net of anyone's neighbor) and that even the attempt can get you into serious trouble.
