backing up user profiles

Hey I'm runing fedora core 2 and windows XP pro and I'm upgrading my hardware & I'm thinking about wiping my drive to clean it up a bit before I put in my new hardware. problem is I can't find any way to backup my user account information (E-mails, preferences, passwords on mozilla) in a manor wich would allow me to easily get it all back once my drive is wiped.

I've bean trying to copy my info in the /home dir. using chown and puting it in a new account it's missing the start menu and taskbar icons. allong with everything I wanted backed up, exept for desktop shortcuts

please if U now any way I can back up my info tell me

E-Mails depends on your e-Mail client, preferences
depends on the desktop environment, mozilla's
settings (along with passwords) DO live in
~/.mozilla ...

If you create a new user, then copy things over
and then chown -R <user> /home/<user> it should
give you all your preferences and such.
