Back to VNC installation...assistance

Hi...I am trying to get vnc installed - I was going to use tightvnc, but it looks like I need to compile the code so since I am new to linux , I thought I would use realvnc (looks easier).I downloaded & uncompressed the package but it appears to be already installed

What I am uncertain of is
1. there a way to uninstall existing vnc and reinstall.(Do I just delete these files?)
2. If the previous version has been configured w/a password and there is noone (previous person to install package has left)to tell me the password can I change it? and if so how do i change it?
3. When running "yum install package" what should my package option be, should it be the uncompressed file names or do I use some other form such as these i386 files?

usr/local/bin

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2009-04-20 13:54 .
-r-xr-xr-x 1 billf nagcmd 2350769 2008-10-15 08:00 Xvnc
-r-xr-xr-x 1 billf nagcmd 371736 2008-10-15 07:50 x0vncserver
-r-xr-xr-x 1 billf nagcmd 134151 2008-10-15 07:49 vncconfig
-r-xr-xr-x 1 billf nagcmd 26614 2008-10-15 07:49 vncpasswd
-r-xr-xr-x 1 billf nagcmd 445044 2008-10-15 07:49 vncviewer
-r-xr-xr-x 1 naloi naloi 13938 2008-10-15 07:33 vncserver
drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 4096 2008-07-26 12:02 ..

when listing my vnc packages:

[root@nagios Download]# rpm -qa | grep vnc
libvncserver-0.9.1-2.fc9.i386
gtk-vnc-python-0.3.4-4.fc9.i386
vnc-4.1.2-30.fc9.i386
vnc-libs-4.1.2-30.fc9.i386
gtk-vnc-0.3.4-4.fc9.i386

when I try to install the vncserver this is what happens:

[root@nagios bin]# yum install vncserver
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
updates-newkey | 2.3 kB 00:00
fedora | 2.4 kB 00:00
http://www.mirror.wtfnix.com/fedora/...ta/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 500: Internal Server Error
Trying other mirror.
updates | 2.6 kB 00:00
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
No package vncserver available.
Nothing to do
[root@nagios bin]#

Shouldn't the vncserver be listed in my packages?
I went to verify password and I get this:

[root@nagios bin]# vncpasswd
vncpasswd: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[root@nagios bin]#

The name vncserver is not in the list that your rpm & grep produced,
so "nothing to do" seems like a sensible response ;}

Cheers,

Ok, that answers the yum install question...

so it appears that I don't have a vncserver package installed but when I attempt to configure my vncserver this is what happens:

[root@nagios bin]# vncserver

You will require a password to access your desktops.

vncpasswd: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

[root@nagios bin]# vncpasswd
vncpasswd: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[root@nagios bin]#

1. how do I change the password since I did not install this (the person who did install it is no longer w/company)
2. how do I fix the problem of the shared libraries?
