Question Autostart program

I have a few programs I would like to start when the computer boots up.

It's a server that occasionally gets rebooted due to power issues. It has no monitor/keyboard/mouse and no WM installed. So I want to have the programs start when the computer boots...not when someone logs in.

Every article I find seems to only start the software when a user logs in.

Any suggestions?

It depends on the distro you're using, but there are various places to put startup scripts. For example, on Debian/Ubuntu you can put commands to run at startup in /etc/rc.local. There are better/more fine-grained ways to start things up depending on runlevel, but that's the easy, quick and dirty way to set it up. It's been a while since I used any other distros so I can't remember where the equivalents are, but you should be able to find them with a bit more searching.

Moreover, all of the distros have a 'serviceconfig' like tool.

Distro would be Debian.
