automatic updatedb

it seems that my redhat8.0 is doing some kind of automatic updatedb because my hard drive is making noise and the computer is slow for a certain amount of time.

how can I remove this automatic updatedb? (if that's what it is)

Those are the cron-jobs running daily, weekly and every month, not only updatedb but also logrotate and a few others. You do need those jobs done, so better not disable the cron-jobs !
