autocorrect dictionary

Starting to use Linux on an everyday basis now and i just noticed while writing an email to my job recruiter that every word i typed had a red underline.

Started writing in thunderbird, and when i had to add "from, just, recieved, free" to the dictionary i quickly got annoyed and went to my gmail on firefox and the same thing was happening.

I then Mounted my windows partition and copied over my resume to my desktop and opened it in Libre office 3 and it was littered with "errors" as well.

Now onto the question.

Is there dictionary file that you have to update or download?

I think you probably have the wrong language selected. In T-Bird if you right-click on one of the red-underlined words you will see there is a choice of languages or the possibility of turning off the spell checker.
