Authentication password


Can anyone tell me how to get the authentication password,I changed my hard drive,so I don't believe its in bios.

The authentication password for what?

No idea, since you give us *NO DETAILS* at all. We don't know anything about the version/distro of Linux, what 'authentication password' you're talking about, etc. If you're saying you just forgot your password, there are ways to change/reset it, but we'd need to know what kind of Linux. Read the "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature.

If you actually did enbcrypt somethging and lose the password that data are lost. If you can recover data from something you "encrypted" withoput the exact password it was not encrypted.
I typed the above to suggest that you take some time to understand what you are doing.

Sorry it took so long to get back,I got a scree on my dell latitude/E5500 it said I needed the authentication password other wiseI could acces the data it had my service tag on it I have no idea how or why it appered,,,thanks for your replys

Maybe you need to contact Dell.
