Angry Authentication Failed!!!

Hello!
After many many fruitless tries, I finally got RedHat 6.1 installed; but for some reason, I can't go pass the "login" and "password" fields. It returns with "AUTHENTICATION FAILED". I know I am using the proper LOGIN name and PASSWORD. What could have gone wrong?
I've tried entering "single" or "rescue" at the BOOT: Prompt, it returns a "no such image" line. What do I do?
Please, someone help me!
