Audio/video (driver) trouble with Ubuntu Hardy on an M3N78-EMH motherboard
 
After installing I cannot get the video and audio to work properly.
Videodriver will not install and the audio hangs/makes noise.

You have a recent Nvidia video card... you can see phoronix.com for reviews. You will need to enable the restricted repositories for the video card apparently. Install the modules using synaptic.

You audio module seems to be loaded (The module is snd_hda_intel). Check mixer settings first.

You partitioning scheme is bad. Split the 387 GB logical partition into some jfs, ext3 and other types of partitions. fat32 is too inefficient a file system. You can use the parted magic-3.0 CD or gparted for that.

I've Installed the videodriver before. Didnt't work.
Destroyed X-session somehow... something to do with kernel version (???).

I'll see how the sound is configured.

The fat partition is part of a (dual boot) Windows install.
I'm more or less forced to use Windows to play videos etc. until my Ubuntu install is fixed that is.

But thx for your help.

Graphics:
If you install the ones in the Nvidia site, then it will certainly break. Remove all those first. Stick to your distributions packages. If you do not want the restricted driver, then use nv
