audio troubleshoot
I have been using windows operating system for a long time now, but I am not well familiar with linux. Whenever I used to install Windows, I used to install the corresponding audio drivers(in order to listen to the music).
The problem I am facing is that I do not know how to install the audio drivers(if they really exist in linux Mint 10 operating system). As a result I am not able to listen to any audio file due to lack of corresponding audio driver programs. Kindly help me to make proper configurations settings so that I can listen to audio files in Linux Mint version 10. |

You say "audio file"...what KIND of file? MP3? OGG? And you need to tell us what kind of hardware you're using, in detail. Have you checked your mixer settings, to see if your speakers are muted or turned down low? |
audio problems
Hi,
I am not able to play mp3 audio files that are currently present on my system.Besides, I also do not hear the start-up sound when I load the operating system. I got to know to that we have certain kernel modules, audio programs and codec(analogous to audio drivers that we have in Windows) that are associated with getting the audio output from the Linux environment. I have Linux Mint version 10 currently installed on my system. I entered into the sound options present in the control center and when I hit the application tab, I got the message that 'No Application is currently playing or recording audio'. I also checked the various setting under the Output tab and there was an output source(named "dummy output"), set by default. Similarly when I got to the Hardware tab, there was nothing(no parameter) under the 'choose a device to configure' title. |

I merged your two threads and politely ask that you stick w/ the
suggested model; stick w/ one thread, answer questions in place. Cheers, Tink |
