Unhappy Audio not working Xonar STX sound card

I am new to Linux, my late partner set it up with Mythtv and I have only a rudimentary understanding of it. Sound stopped working overnight.
Checked Gnome alsamixer settinXxx gs and adjusted MASTER control to full. Removed Asus Xonar STX sound card, blew the dust out, still no sound. Speakers pop when system is restarted. Can someone lead me through this? I'm missing my TV.

Sorry to hear this. There are too many possibilities. You better get someone locally to come and look at it.
