attempting to bypass windows altogether and set up a live USB boot using LM 19.3 cinnamon...

machine is a lenovo ideapad 330s
some specs are: ADM Ryzen 5, radeon vega graphics, 8g RAM, 256 ssd

is there anyway to bypass windows without even setting it up?

i got as far as making the live USB stick with UUI, but haven't been able to fully boot up beyond the initial LM screen. further actions yield a blank screen or a frozen cursor.

a quick web search seems to suggest some 330s models come with nvidia gpu's. you might need to boot with the nomodeset option as explained in this link (near the bottom in the "Solving freezes during the boot sequence" section: https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_tricia_cinnamon.php

I'd assume a few things.

Windows needs some bios setting changed like quick boot.
Also you boot to a uefi hard drive order choice.

When you have laptop fully powered down, insert the usb drive and go straight to bios.
Does the usb drive show up under the HARD DRIVE choices for boot? If so move the order so that usb is prior to ssd.
