ATI Radeon 9600 Pro - SuSe 0.2

Greetings,

Has anybody managed to get the Radeon 9600 Pro to work in in 3D with Suse 9.2?

I have down loaded the drive and kernel module, installed them both with Yast, then went through the 'How To' procedure that came with the the rpm files, including modifying the XF86Config file, but it still tells that it will not work..

NB I tried the drivers from the SuSe site and ATI - no different.

Who has the answer out there in Linux Land ?

I am not sure about this, but to my knowledge SUSE 9.2 uses XOrg instead of XFree86. Shouldn't the config file be named differently (not XF86Config)? Sorry can't look this up on my 9.2-box.

Perhaps you're thinking of xorg.conf - SuSE (at least version 10.0) still uses xf86config to configure the settings.

XF86Config is a link to xorg.conf

So in a way you are right. ;)

Anyway, this thread is quite old and I don't think my answer then was very helpful anyway (since you shouldn't edit the X configuration on SUSE than rather use sax2).
