ATI Radeon 9000 In Slackware 9.1

After finally figuring out how to install my video card driver (radeon 9000) in slackware 9.1 I get this error:

./make_install.sh

- creating symlink
- recreating module dependency list
- trying a sample load of the kernel module
Warning: loading /lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.o will taint the kernel: non-GPL license - Proprietary. (C) 2002 - ATI Technologies, Starnberg, GERMANY
See http://www.tux.org/lkml/#export-tainted for information about tainted modules
Module fglrx loaded, with warnings
done.

Is this a big problem? I don't know what to do. should I uninstall it? I would really like to be able to use my video card's actual capabilities. Sorry to be such a newbie. I read the site and it appears like it isn't an error persay (sp?)

Thanks for the help in advance

OK,
I rebooted and everything and I don't eventhink it worked. This is what I did and the output:

root@Vs:/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod# ./make.sh
ATI module generator V 2.0
==========================
initializing...
cleaning...
patching 'highmem.h'...
skipping patch for 'drmP.h', not needed
probing for VMA API version...
doing script based build for kernel 2.4.x and similar
compiling './agpgart_be.c'...
compiling './agp3.c'...
compiling './i7505-agp.c'...
compiling './nvidia-agp.c'...
compiling './firegl_public.c'...
linking of fglrx kernel module...
duplicating results into driver repository...
done.
==============================
You must change your working directory to /lib/modules/fglrx
and then call ./make_install.sh in order to install the built module.
==============================
root@Vs:/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod# cd ..
root@Vs:/lib/modules/fglrx# make clean
make: *** No rule to make target `clean'. Stop.
root@Vs:/lib/modules/fglrx# ./make_install.sh
- creating symlink
- recreating module dependency list
- trying a sample load of the kernel module
Warning: loading /lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.o will taint the kernel: non-GPL license - Proprietary. (C) 2002 - ATI Technologies, Starnberg, GERMANY

Module fglrx loaded, with warnings
done.

It says it loaded but I cannot load the ATI control panel and the display controls in KDE tell me that only a generic VESA is installed. I am lost.

Thnks for your help

I'm a newbie as well, I've just installed RH9 a couple of months ago, my videocard is Radeon 9000 as well and the installation went without a problem and the videocard is working fine. Before Red Hat I had Mandrake 9, and the same hapen. No problems at all. I must say that the card had been installed before the installation of linux. I'm on dual boot with XP.
Good luck.

I'm using Mandrake and I cannot get any 3D acceleration at all, basically i think the problem is that the card isn't being detected as AGP.

I downloaded the latest driver from ATI, recompiled the kernel with the new driver, everything looked fine, no errors, but still no 3D gfx!

I get 1 fps on Tux Racer!, lol
