Ati Firepro 2460
 

Please help,

The following is the status of a DELL T3500 that I have been trying to install the Ati firepro 2460 under Red hat Enterprise Linux Desktop 5.3. I proceeded with the installation while the original video card is in the workstation. Once finished the installation, I inserted the Ati Firepro 2460 card and rebooted the computer. I got this error : Failed to start the X Server (graphical interface). It is likely that it is not set correctly. Would you like the X Server output to diagnase the problem?

Please show us your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file. If I had to take a guess, though, I'd say that the version of Xorg included in RHEL 5.3 is too old to support that video card (RHEL 5 was released over 4 years ago, after all).

Its possible that adamk75 is right and RHEL 5.3 doesnt support the newest drivers. The older drivers should be OK from what it says here-

I'd try installing the card before you install the drivers.
