If anyone has any good suggestions, I'd appreciate this.

By the way, I have tried uninstalling fglrx completely and reverted to the original xorg.conf file and startx still poops out. This server is attached to a KVM that has a fairly old monitor. I have other linux boxes that display properly, however, this one hasn't for almost a year now. It did display a desktop ok until this driver update.

I am stumped.... so it is probably something simple.

This box is up to date rpm wise.
