ati-fglrx driver fails to load :@

Just reinstalled Fedora core 3, and itś all good except the annoying ati driver problem.
I installed the ¨ati-fglrx.i386¨ package from livna.org with yum and it went smooth but later on boot i got a long message about the driver failing and that the DRI is not going to work... thatś what i managed to catch from that message.
I checked the /var/log/boot.log in hope to find that full message but it appeared there as:
¨Mar 26 19:31:02 fc3 ati-fglrx: Checking for ati-fglrx kernel module failed¨.
I don´t really know what to do now, please help.

AAAAAAAAH!!!! i had the same problem! no biggie tho' :)
you're going to need to edit '/etc/inittab', so open it up in any text editor and look for
a line that says something about default runlevel and change the number 5 to 3, then save, exit and reboot. what u just did was stop FC from starting in GUI mode. once linux boots up, log in as root and type 'rmmod radeon', then 'modprobe fglrx' and now all should be good and well! :) if you haven't run fglrxconfig yet, the you have to it now.

type '/user/X11R6/bin/fglrxconfig' and follow the wizard through to the end. if there's any question you're unsure of, just hit enter...except when u get to the monitor horizontal/vertical frequencies, for now just select 31-64 for hor and 50-100 for vert, those setting should work with most if not all monitors at 1024*768@60hz. once you've got X up and running again you can search for the correct settings.

it's all good now, thank you ;)
