ATI driver problem plz help me out


I downloaded this ati XFRee86 4.2.0. for ati radeon 8500 driver somehow it didnt work on my XFRee86 4.3.0. mandrake 9.1 is there anyway to work around does it worth trying ?

uname -r

# What compiler version do I have installed
gcc -v
gcc --version

# What is the running kernel and compiler installed
cat /proc/version

# Find X server version
X -showconfig

You didn't install the developmental packages? As root, command:
urpmi gcc
An Introduction to the Midnight Commander. You can install it by commanding:
urpmi mc

well my xfree86's version is different from Ati';s driver is that ok?

my version is 4.3 the ati driver's requrie 4.2

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem... (now watch your computer sends sparks to my house and back...).

when i try to install the driver the there is an error message pops up saying that the file/usr/x11r6/lib/libgl.so.1.2. from install of fglrx-glc22-4.2.0-2.5.1 conflicts with file from package xfree86-libs-4.3-5mdk

any ideas ?

Hmmm

Is there any chance of setting up urpmi to an FTP mirror with your ATI driver in it?

I'll poke around, let me know if I'm wasting my time looking...

yea it worked it's an offical driver ?

however the one downloaded from ati still not working
