ATI Driver/Playing MP3 issues

Hello,
Just installed Suse 10.0, and wanted to install the ATI driver. Did the install ok, (sucessfully figured out how to do it with Root privileges thanks to this forum), ran fgrlxconfig thru the console as the driver directed, and rebooted. But I tried one of the 3D games included with the O/S but I get a pop stating no 3d Hardware or 3d not configured yet. What did I miss?

Also, I tried playing some .mp3's with the included player, amarok I think, but nothing happens. It seems to skip the entire song, and just says that the playlist has finished. Do I have to install a codec pack (or similar), and if so where would I find it? I also tried playing an .avi file, and no go either. I'm assuming its the same issue.

Newbie here, so if possible, can we keep the answers dumbbed down a bit.
Thanks!!!!!

mp3 codecs are not included in most distros due to ... issues ...

Normally, you'd just install lame, though some audio players have their own plugins. Try this:
