Asus M5A97 R2.0 linux compatible

When a component says it "Windows 8 compatible" like my motherboard in my current build. How can decide on linux compatibility?
Short of guess and by-gosh methodology (which has frustrated me it the past). Is there a reference to research for compatibility questions available?
Thx

You can look at the HCL ( hardware compatability list ) on this forum as a starting point. If you search for 'linux hardware comaptability' you will find a ton of hits.

These days, if win 8 will run on a piece of hardware, linux will run also. The most common issues are bleeding edge hardware, where drivers and the kernel have not caught up yet.

As for that board, it is UEFI bios. So, if you are going to dual boot, do some research first on that topic.

Check the manufacturer's website?

FWIW ASUS says it is compatible: https://dlcdnimgs.asus.com/websites/...105.pdf#page=5
