Asus Eeepc 900 Xandros - Youtube videos don't run!
Hi everyone! My Eee pc 900 running Xandros doesn't play youtube videos, anymore. It shows the "install a new adobe flash player version" message. Could you help me how to unpack and install the downloaded file? ITYIA.

Hello,
Xandros is not being worked on, and is discontinued within development. Your best bet would be to upgrade to a newer and better distribution.... Cheers, Josh |
As corp769 already stated, Xandros is discontinued. Its last stable release was in 2007, so having a not up to date flashplayer is your least problem, you run an outdated system that has not got security updates for years and therefore has security holes that are well known and easy to use to break into your system. I would strongly recommend to change to recent version of a supported distribution.

Look through
http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=48308 You'll see a lot of posts agreeing with the above 2 posts. My eeepc runs AntiX with Debian testing and unstable repos. Just pointing you in the right direction is all. |
Ok, guys. In this case I intend to download another distro. Which one would be the more indicated? We can't forget I have a few HD in my netbook Eeepc 900.

Any distro with a lightweight DE should run fine on that machine, antix would be a good choice, Bhodi, Lubuntu or Xubuntu, Vector and Zenwalk would come to my mind.
You also can go for one of the mainstream distros, if you don't use the resource hungry DEs. |
