Try googling for asus adsl linux driver. I did and come up with about 21000 hits. The first one was a SourceForge.net project. But without giving the model of the modem, it's kinda hard to say if that will fix your prob.
First of all, go here and download the install instructions. That will give you a good idea of what files you need to satisfy dependencies. Just follow the instructions to the letter and you should be OK. Sorry I can't give you more details, but I don't have an adsl modem.
